Peace Coffee: Using WordPress and the Web for Interactive Solutions

Peace Coffee Shop website imageIn 2009, we helped our friends at Peace Coffee create the MapMyBeans website, an interactive site for customers to find out the origins and histories of their favorite blends. In 2010, they approached us with an exciting new development: opening their own Coffee Shop!

Not only would the Peace Coffee Shop be a great community resource and meeting space, it would be a place for Peace Coffee to test their beans in a practical application.

However, opening a coffee shop in Minneapolis is not an inexpensive endeavor. They needed a cost-effective, well-branded and easy to use website for posting news, information, and event updates.

Incorporating new tools into the overall Web Strategy

Bicycle Theory worked with Peace Coffee’s resident designer, Haley Johnson, to create a branded WordPress website for the Peace Coffee Wonderland Park Coffee Shop.

Tying in their home website and MapMyBeans site as well as their twitter feed and flickr photos, the Peace Coffee shop site is an excellent example of how Bicycle Theory addresses Web + Interactive Solutions while working with our client’s specific needs and limitations. The Peace Coffee Shop website was built on a WordPress.org platform so that PCS managers could easily add, update, and promote various happenings and specials. But the real accomplishment of this project was that we (Bicycle Theory) were able to successfully design and develop the site while Peace Coffee’s main designer was in the middle of helping to design and renovating the space and other aspects of the Peace Coffee brand, in general.

The project launch and coffee shop opening were both fantastic successes. We’ve since been to the shop several times for meetings and for the record: the coffee is perfection. :)

The Peace Coffee Shop website was developed by Bicycle Theory. For a complete list of past BT projects, please visit. (link to live portfolio site)
